Today is the first day of my healthy, detox dry July and so far, so good. But then again, it is only day 1! Usually I’m fairly in balance and only have coffee occasionally and indulge at weekends but the last few months have seen me go to yoga less and hit the coffee more. So this month it’s all about cleaning out my system; no caffeine, alcohol or junk food and cutting right down on sugar, wheat and gluten. I will be doing lots more alkalising with lemony water throughout the day, superfood smoothies, salads and lots of herbal teas. Before bed I will be indulging in soul-soothing Epsom salt baths as they are wonderful for detoxing, relaxing the central nervous system, topping up my magnesium levels and helping me drop off to sleep. If you haven’t already tried them I really recommend giving them a go; they are amazing!
I’m also planning to create more time in my life for those little joyful moments that I’m usually rushing around too much to miss. Running two businesses and working for myself means that I can end up taking care of everyone but me. I realised this last month and have started to make more changes; sitting in the garden watching the family of woodpeckers who have been feasting on our bird feeder every day, rediscovering my love of reading and getting lost in some wonderful books, and just taking the time to meditatively stroke my wonderful sweet-hearted dog. Life is short and we only get one crack around the track. Being busy is just another form of distraction for many of us and it can give us a sense of purpose and meaning to our lives. But when I really became more mindful of my own ‘busyness’ I realised it was pretty devoid of meaning and that I had simply created a habit of being on the hamster wheel.
Letting go of this busyness habit is taking some getting used to, and at first guilt arose that ‘I should’ be doing something, and resistance got in the way. I’m not a big fan of ‘shoulds’, self-imposed or otherwise so I have pushed on through and gradually I’m starting to notice changes.
At first it was a little disconcerting as when you create space in your life, stuff arises, which is why so many of us are good at being busy, so the things we don’t want to face don’t have the space to emerge. For me some feelings arose and also a delicious sense of inner space has started to make itself felt. I have had the space to tap on the uncomfortable feelings and indulge in some wonderful self-healing and now I’m very much committed to keeping up this space creation project to see what other magic arises.
It’s now 10.30pm and the last few hours have seen me glued to the screen making some tweaks on this shiny new website that my lovely hubby has created for me. After being known as Tania from Prism Healing (or Prison Healing as some people have misheard over the years) I am now rebranding as Tania Louise and I feel excited about this new energy that this makeover has brought.
I hope you enjoy checking out my new site, which should be hopefully finished by the end of this week.
Until next time,
Light-filled hugs,
Tx
